Hi,
We are raising money for a local charity organisation within the village called the Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice.
Bluebell
Wood Children’s Hospice offers care and support to children and young adults with a shortened life expectancy, both in their own homes
and at our hospice in Sheffield. Bluebell Wood is a place filled with laughter and love. They give families the chance to relax, take a break and have fun,
and they help support the whole family. It costs £2.5 million every year to offer this support.  With no statutory
government funding, without the help of their supporters they simply couldn’t help all the children that they do.
The three of us are entering a sort of alternative triathlon called the Adventure Series. It involves doing 10K+ of mulit
terrain adventure running, 25K+ of mountain biking tracks and trails and 1K+ of canoeing. Please click on the link below
to donate.
Thanks in Advance

Mallen Trophy 2011 Winners.
A big congratulations to the 1st XI who won the 2011 Mallen Trophy. Well done to those that played on the day and all those who played in the
previous matches.
On the day.
Anston and Ordsall Bridon won their semi-finals against Thoresby Colliery and Papplewick & Linby respectively and faced each other in the Mallen Trophy final
at Anston CC.
Anston batted first and, thanks to a blazing 109 not out by opener John Lyne and great support from Amila Perera with a quick-fire 71, scored 246 for 3 in
their 20 overs. Ordsall Bridon had to go for the runs from the first ball and, despite a fighting 54 from Marc Brewer, were all out for 148, leaving
Anston the winners by 98 runs.
Unsurprisingly, John Lyne was awarded the Harold Pope Trophy for man of the match for his outstanding knock and trophies were presented to all the players, the
umpires of the day, and the scorers. Trophies were presented by League President John Heaman who was introduced by Gareth Jones who thanked both
Harthill and Anston for holding the games, with a special mention for Anston CC for their hospitality for the final.
Anston will now go on to represent the BDCL in a one off final, the Mapperley Sports T20 Trophy, against the winners of the South Notts League T20 competition.
This final will be held on Tuesday evening, the 19th July 2011 with the reserve date in case of bad weather being the day after. The venue
this year is Eastwood CC. The winners of that final will enter the Cockspur Trophy and compete against the other three Premier League teams who have
reached that stage of their competition.

Mallen Trophy Finals Day - Sunday 10th July.
Good luck to the 1st XI who are competing in the finals day this Sunday.
Here are the arrangements for the semi-finals and final of the Mallen Trophy on Sunday 10th July 2011.
- Semi-finals (start time 11:00)
- Thoresby Colliery v Anston at Harthill Cricket Club
- Papplewick & Linby II v Ordsall Bridon at Anston Cricket Club
The winners of the two semi finals will play the final at Anston Cricket Club starting at 15:00.
Trophies will be awarded to the scorers, umpires and all players (including the Harold Pope Trophy for the Man of the Match).
The winners of the Mallen T20 Trophy will represent the BDCL in a one off final, the Mapperley Sports T20 Trophy, against the winners of the South Notts League
T20 competition. This final will be held on Tuesday evening, the 19th July 2011 with the reserve date in case of bad weather being the day after.
The venue this year is Eastwood CC.
The winners of that final will enter the Cockspur Trophy and compete against the other three Premier League teams who have reached that stage of their competition.

Anston Under 9’s G Scott Memorial Competition at Aston Hall.
Anston U9’s competed in their first game and competition of the season in a well organized and fun day at Aston Hall cricket club. Amazingly the
ground must have had its own weather system as not a drop of rain landed on the ground Sunday afternoon!
Playing first against Whiston, Anston won thanks to some great batting from Norbury and Ruczenczyn, bowling from R Connell and Wilks and Fielding from
Blackburn. The next two games saw two different teams from Aston Hall, here K Connell, Crane and Pearson all did well to ensure victory in both
games and a route to the semi final. Here they played Aston Hall again and a close battle with great contributions with the bat and ball from Moyle
and Bennett saw them reach the first final in the under 9’s history.
They played a very strong Rotherham Town side, winning the toss Anston put Rotherham into Bat, good pressure bowling saw several wickets to fall from Bennett,
Wilks and Connell. However a big hitting finale saw Rotherham reach 233. Anston batted sensibly with good contributions from Norbury and
Ruczenczyn, however it all ended up very tight with 2 runs needed from the last ball to secure victory, against a young Yorkshire star from Rotherham who was
bowling with extreme pace for the age group. Bennett was the star here as he calmly smacked the ball over the bowlers head to secure the victory
and the first ever success for Anston Under 9’s.

Tomlins Final Winners!!
On Sunday 12th September the 1st XI won the Tomlins Cup for the first time in the clubs history. Congratulations!!
Here are a few words from Alan Vollans:-
"Congratulations and well played to all the Tomlin's Final team players and, of course, the players who helped get us there.
It was a great game and credit to you all for the professional way you approached it and also the way you bowled and fielded as "a team".
Tremendous to watch although the players looked far more in control than the spectators were. Also good to see that all the
players in the Final had represented Anston CC at Junior level apart from our pro, Amila.
Well done."

the way Anston CC was represented by all involved - the players, manager, spectators etc... and said on a number of occasions how well
they had been a credit to the Club.

Help required.
We have become the victims of our own success - so much so that Friday evenings are threatening to swamp the Club coaches
who are trying to run training on a Friday. We only have half a dozen Friday evening sessions left but need YOUR
help. We start at 16.30 and finish around 20.30. Can you give an hour or so to come and help our coaches
out to work with the small children who are learning our game.
The atmosphere on a Friday evening is great with lots of families around, but we do need some more help for an hour or
two. Please come and see for yourself - speak to Alan Vollans or Richard Chapman/Andrew Barley when you arrive.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Steve Spencer Charity Match.
On Friday, June the 4th, at Cuckney Cricket Club, commencing at 6pm, there will be a charity cricket encounter between
‘England’ and an ‘International’ XI in aid of local cricket stalwart Steve Spencer, who due to illness has become a
wheelchair user.
We are looking to raise £1 500 to purchase a top of the range mobility scooter for Steve, so he can get to matches comfortably
and without risk of failing to get home. All who know Steve will want to support this event, I am sure. His
dedication to local cricket, both indoor and outdoor, for his club and the junior league in Mansfield is well known.
The ‘International’ battle will feature the overseas players of many local clubs and is captained by Glapwell’s Aussie, Matt
Goodwright.
Captaining ‘England’ is another Glapwell player, Matt Page and he will be joined by Martyn Dobson of Welbeck, Adam Burgess and
David Hunt of Cuckney, Matt New of Hosiery Mills, Ian Woodall of Mansfield & Pleasley, Matt Cartwright of Kiveton Park, David
Wilcock of Blidworth (who recently hit 267*, a Bassetlaw League record) and others.
The T20 contest will feature white balls and all the glitz that goes with it. English pride is at stake against a quality
‘International’ XI. The match takes place at Cuckney CC, where needless to say, a raffle is organised, you can bid for a signed
Notts bat (our appreciation to Stewart Burrows of Notts CCC) and there will be a barbecue and a chance to sample a few!!
There will be a donation of £2 per cark parked.
Hopefully the sun will shine and a good night will be had by all.

It would be good if we could sort out the squads over this period and gain some more helpers with the running of the U11 soft

Working Party Required - 10th April.
The pre-season working weekend will commence at 10:00 on sat 10th April. There is lots to do, what with games
beginning the following weekend, so please try and make the effort to come to the ground and lend a helping hand.
It would be especially nice to see some faces that don't usually help out (you know who you are). We had a good
turnout at the end of season shut down and all the tasks where completed in one day. If we have the same commitment
this year, then yet again, we should be able to get everything done in one day and we can have the Sunday to practise if the
weather is fit.
Please be aware that this WILL NOT be cancelled if there is inclement weather, you're allowed to bring a coat!!
There will be bacon and sausage butties, tea and coffee as usual.

Neil Froggatt - Sheffield Half Marathon.
Neil Froggatt is running, so children don't have to...Please can you support him?
On Sunday 25th April, he will be running in the Sheffield Half Marathon for SAFE@LAST. He know's this is going to be
an extremely difficult challenge - come rain, wind or snow, he's going to have to train (whether he feels like it or not) while
most of you will be chilling out in front of your T.V's! And though this challenge will be difficult at least it's something he has
chosen to do rather than been made to do. That's why he is asking for your support and donations.
SAFE@LAST works throughout our region providing vital services for vulnerable youngsters who have to face their own Extreme
Challenge due to being thrown out of the place they call home while others do not feel safe at home and feel they have no other
choice than to run away. Many of them have little option but to sleep rough for many nights of the year in all weathers
risking their physical & mental health whilst also exposing themselves to the dangers from drugs, alcohol & crime as well as
becoming possible victims of physical & sexual assault.
More than 4000 children under 16 years old are forced to flee an abusive home, incidents of bullying, broken family
relationships etc in OUR area. Neil wants to make sure these children have somewhere to turn for advice, support and
practical help... He's sleeping rough to raise money so that SAFE@LASTcan continue to run its vital services and to keep more
children safe.
Please visit his JustGiving page:- http://www.justgiving.com/Neil-Froggatt
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them
on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid
is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - He raises more,
whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. So please dig deep and donate now.

Hi everyone,
Anston Cricket Clubs big charity concert is now booked and will be at the Lyric Theatre, Dinnington on Saturday 27th feb 2010.
All the funds raised will be shared between the cricket club and the Sheffield Childrens Hospital Scanner Appeal.
The acts are booked and are giving their time free of charge. They include Captured, a top male/female singing duo from Rotherham.
The SD Crew, an international award winning street dance troupe based in Dinnington. Andy Taylor, a top class magician also from Dinnington. Our very own Chris Smith, international cabaret act extraordinaire and you never know, i mite even be coaxed onto the stage!!!!
We are hoping that the evening will be compared by Gaz Shanks AKA Captain Blade, but that is yet to be confirmed.
I will let everyone know when tickets are going on sale and the cost.
Chris and I organised a similar event in sept 2007 which was very successful so make no mistake this event will sell out.
We are now actively seeking a sponsor for this event and would be grateful if you could all ask your bosses if they would interested in helping out these two worthy causes. £250 covers the cost of the Lyric for the evening.
Also we need some raffle prizes from local companies. If any one has any good ideas then please let me know.

Family Fun Day - 14th June at Anston CC.
On the 14th June there is going to be a family fun day at ACC. Its a new format, with free admission for adults,
and tickets for children costing £1. The event will start at 11.30 and wind down at 4ish.
There will be a bouncy castle, little races, rounders, a mini under 2s play area, football, bbq, sweet stall, ice cream van,
bar open, tombola, raffle, hopefully face painting etc.....
It should be a really nice relaxed family day, weather permitting! Tickets are on sale and available from Vicki Lyne
and Janet Haykin. Hopefully this will be as well supported as the Bonfire Night and there will be a great atmosphere
at the club!
As ever we are looking for some help. If any one can lend their little slides, swings, etc from their gardens, or
make a donation for the tombola or raffle, or could donate an hour of their time to supervise any of the activities, eg help
on the bbq, sweet stall, or set up in the morning, or sell tickets to their friends at play groups etc, please could they contact
Vicki Lyne on 519676, or vickiking71@hotmail.com

Working Party needed Saturday 14th March - 09:30 onwards.
A working party is needed for Saturday the 14th March. If you can help please either let Mark Parkinson know or just
turn up. It is due to start from 9:30 and it would be appreciated if more could support this as the last one resulted
in only a handful of members turning up. If the work is not completed shortly then the start of the season is very much
in doubt.
Here is the list of work that needs doing to get the ground ready:-
- Some topsoil will be purchased to be spread (bring a garden rake - not a grass rake) around the former hedge area prior to
fertiliser and seed.
- The outfield needs de-stoning and firework debris picking up.
- The non turf strip needs cleaning with a jet washer and stiff brush.
- The hedge near the bungalow needs cutting and trees pruning - anybody got long handled loppers?
- Netting the bottom of the ground.
- Potholes in car park need filling.
- Roller and tractor both need starting and running.
- The main garage needs emptying, cleaning and re-organising - putting up bracket to hold the new sight screen, throwing out items
no longer required.
- The score room needs tidying and smartening up.
- The picnic benches need rubbing down, filling and varnishing.
- The outdoor nets need cable ties and repairing.
- Paint the wood white behind the batters?
- Put a sheet up behind the bowlers.
- Move the roof tiles to allow digging out round the garage to decrease risk of flooding. Possibly put in brick wall
round the garage raise internal floor with layer of concrete.
- Cut the square.
- Fertilise the square.
- Replace broken roof tiles.
- Repair water outlet at the side of the square to reduce flooding.
- Finish pole work for netting system by the bungalow and install netting.
As you can see there is a lot to do. Please don't just leave it to those few that turned up last time. The more that turn up the
quicker it will get done!!

We really do need your help down at the ground. Can you spare a couple of hours please on Saturday 17th january at 10 am.
There is some general tidying up around the ground and car park to be done; there is some soil to be raked ready to seed

Many people means only a little for everyone to do. Please bring a garden rake (not a grass rake), some suitable gardening

Giving great support to the Rotherham Breast Care Unit.
Steph who has two sons and three grandsons’ currently playing cricket at the Club, presented the cheque to Carol Barrass,
the Manager of the Rotherham Breast Care Unit. Over 70 cricket club volunteers turned up to support Steph at the presentation
last Saturday (11th October) evening.
The Club has raised the money with a big raffle which has been strongly supported by sponsored prizes from the local community.
Whilst always needing funds to run the Club, club members feel it important to continue to support local charities and hard
pressed services, and many of the lady members have used the excellent and important Breast Screening Service at Rotherham
District General Hospital.
Carol explained the importance of the Breast Screening service, and thanked the Club for its kind donation.
